The Journey Thoughts

August 12, 2016

There is one thing I am learning from watching the Olympics, and that is,
even though there may be a lot of distress going on in this country; even
though we appear to be going backward on relationships; even though there is
persecution, especially of Christianity, there is also hope.  In the
Olympics there is no  appearance of race issues, and quite the opposite, the
love that our athletes have for each other is very apparent.   Through this
I realize that hope has not been removed from here, and that we are that
hope.  My heart is filled with love for others as I see the way black,
white, brown, compete with and against each other, truly wanting each other
to win, but realizing that striving for the gold, makes each other stronger.
Even in the face of defeat there is true joy for the winner of the event,
and I am reminded that our confidence is in Christ.  Listen to an
encouraging Scripture: "My heart is confident. God, my heart is confident. I
will sing: I will sing praises. Wake up, my soul! Wake up, harp and lyre! I
will wake up the dawn. I will praise You, Lord, among the peoples; I  will
sing praises to You among the nations. For Your faithful love is as high as
the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches the clouds. God, be exalted above the
heavens; let Your glory be over the whole earth." Psalm 57: 7-11 There is a
new day to shine joy in the nation; there is a reason to sing, and a reason
to praise, because God, in His great love for us, has revealed Himself to
the nations for the purpose of bringing unity to all people.  Yes, I still
know there are those who would like nothing else but to kill and destroy,
but I will put my hope today in the One who came to save. I will put my hope
in the One who loves us so much and died that we could experience His love,
even in the face of persecution.   For when we are faithless, He is
faithful. When we are hopeless, He fills us with hope; When we are wasting
away, He is building us up.  When we see hate, He sees love.  It is that
love that I wish to focus on, for He is the reason to hope, and to love.  He
brings us a new song every morning, to use as a praise offering to Him, so
why not praise Him today.  He has put such a love in our hearts, that
sometimes we let the pressures of the nation, bear down on it, so that we no
longer can feel the love.  But He, in His infinite wisdom, brings love in
the midst of hate, and shows us that He is still in control.  I will sing
praises for I cannot help but sing, for my heart is filled with the love
that He as, not only for me, but for all of us; For black, white, brown, or
yellow. He has placed in us a power that overcomes all prejudice, and all
hate, and all we have to do is recognize it.  While the country leaders are
so busy trying to tear each other apart, let's use this as an opportunity to
build, and to mend fences.  Let's be the hope to the nation, just like our
athletes are to us.  Let's continue the walk of faith, trusting in One much
higher than anyone, that can claim authority on this earth.  Let's be the
voice of praise among the nation, and show the people that God is still
here.  He is not dead, and He does not slumber, and He is attentive to our
needs and our prayers.  Let's wake today filled with the songs of freedom
from the effects of a few trying to destroy the hope that still burns in the
very fabric of our society.  Let's proclaim Christ, and sing of His goodness
and His faithful, which clearly reaches the clouds, and is poured out on
every living soul, if they would just look up. God, let Your glory be over
the whole earth today, and may You be exalted above the heavens.

Heavenly Father, You put a melody in my heart, and I am filled with songs of
praise, for You are Holy.  I will ask for forgiveness for a heart that
becomes weary for the way my people act in this nation.  Father, I
understand that without You, they can only react as worldly, fleshly people.
But with You, O Lord, we have reason to praise, and I sense Your presence
clearly this morning. I will ask You, Lord. Please grant healing and peace
to those who need You so much.  They need Your touch, Your presence, Your
healing, and I know that You love them so much. I lift to You: Grace, Don,
