The Journey Thoughts

August 23, 2016

Let's face it, the Ten Commandments were not the Ten Suggestions, nor is the
Word of God, just a book filled with things for us to think about.  The
Bible is our recipe book, to make life worth living.  It is our guide as we
walk through this earth on our journey to eternity, so that we can know that
with it, and the power of the Lord, through the Holy Spirit, it is able to
withstand the harshest criticism or persecution.  Sure this body might be
persecuted, but the truth that remains within our hearts, is the power of
God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Scripture tells us: "For though we live in
the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way, since the weapons of our
warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of
strongholds. We demolish arguments and every high-minded thing that is
raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey
Christ." 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5 So we walk, not in shame, but in the Spirit,
in boldness, because even though we may think that we cannot fight the
things the world throws against us, let me assure you that our God is quite
capable to destroying those arguments that the world may think has
superiority over faith.  But we must recognize that the fight is not against
flesh and blood, but against, "the rulers, against the authorities, against
the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in
the heavens." (Eph. 6:12)  That is our true adversary, so if that is our
true adversary, then we must realize that this enemy needs to be fought on a
Spiritual level.  That is the Spirit within us, able to respond to the most
power of evil sources, so that we can be able to demolish strongholds
through Christ.   But still many Christians walk in this world as if they
had to do everything under their own power, and therefore usually fail.  But
believer, please let me assure you, faith in our Lord, trust that He will
accomplish all against the enemy, will be the power you have and the power
you need for this battle.  When a soldier goes to war, he doesn't go
bare-handed, without the protection from the effects of the enemy.  If the
enemy uses gas, he puts on his gas-mask.  If the enemy is firing bullets, he
wears his Kevlar and helmet.  If the enemy uses explosive devises, he must
wear the boots that have protection built in the sole.  All goes for the
protection from what the enemy is using.  We are in a spiritual battle
daily, and to fight the spiritual enemy, we must be wearing spiritual battle
protection. I have listed these before, and they are both defensive
protection, and weapons of offense, so that the battle can be fought
spiritually.   I would be foolish if I took a rifle into battle but didn't
know how to fire it, and to use it, I must know how to care for it, clean
it, and trust it, so that it will not fail me at the time I need it the
most.  Spiritually, we need to have our weapon handy, and our weapon is the
Word of God, the Word of Truth, and to use it, we must know how to.  So we
don't just read it like it was a good book, but we study so that we know,
when and for what purpose it is used.  And honestly, it is needed much more
than the weapon of the world we take such good care of.  We live in this
body, But we fight in the Spirit.  Walk in this body, but we walk BY faith,
in Him who loves us and gave His life for us.  We are Spiritual warriors,
and we have the greatest weapon the universe could possible recognize, and
that is the very Word of God. Trust your weapon, study your weapon, learn
every part of your weapon, for with it, you will be able, through the Lord,
to demolish strongholds, and arguments and every high-minded things that is
raised up against the knowledge of God.

Pastor Andy

Heavenly Father, infuse us with Your glory and Your strength. Lord, we
realize that the power of the enemy has to be fought through You, for we are
not strong enough on our own.  So I plead for You to strengthen us and be
the power that destroys the strongholds that are set before us.  I pray for
those who have been stalled by the strongholds of physical pain and
suffering. I pray You break down the barriers, and establish Yourself within
those we love, who struggle with physical issues.  Lord, I lift them to You:
