The Journey Thoughts

August 29, 2016

It's a time when all concentration of families, is concerned about starting
school.  Whether the grade school, High school, or College, young and old
alike, are scurrying, getting ready for another semester of learning, of
putting their everyday lives on hold so that they can learn in general, or
learn a profession, or trade.  With all the preparation for a commitment to
learning, how are you doing, on learning to get closer to the Lord.  Whether
you go to school, or college, you are still in need of learning the need of
the Savior in your everyday life.  All the more, scripture says, as we see
the day approaching.   It's not a vocation we are trying to achieve, but a
destiny we are chosen to complete.  Consider this: "But you are a chosen
race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so
that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness
into His marvelous light.  Once you were not a people, but now you are God's
people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." 1
Peter 2:9-10    This is our destiny brothers and sisters.  If you have
accepted Christ as Lord of your life, you have been changed; you have become
a new creation, and as such, you and I should have a desire, but certainly
also we have a responsibility to be what God has chosen us for.   Peter
would go on to pen: "For it is God's will that you silence the ignorance of
foolish people by doing good." v15    Please don't get caught up in the
works for the sake of God's approval, but do so for the love that you have
for the Father, and His Son, our Lord Jesus. Why wouldn't we want to bring
Him glory by our walk?  Why wouldn't we want to be singing praises to Him
all through the day?  Why wouldn't we want to care so much for those who
have not believed yet, but shine for them, so that they can see the light of
Christ in you?  We have received mercy, and as a receiver of His mercy, we
should also be a giver of mercy to those who were once like us, but still
have not recognized the Savior of the World.   Can you and I silence the
ignorance of foolish people?  Not on our own, but by being willing to be led
by the Spirit, we can do whatever His will is, for it will be His power
working in us, not our own.  It will be the Lord, who accomplishes in a
darkened heart what we fail to be able to do on our own.  We are but a
vessel of the Holy Spirit, recognizing the His power will enable us to
silence the ignorant, even though they rail against us.  I remember what my
friend Tracy told me about how she became a believer.  It was by one whom
she tried everything within her ability to discredit and cause harm, but all
she received in spite of doing this was love in return.  The believer that
confronted her with love, was silencing the ignorance of a foolish person,
and she became a believer, who God is using mightily to this day.  We never
know what God has in store for the one He leads us to, but we must know
this. He has a purpose, and His will is going to be completed with our
without our help.  We have been given the wonderful opportunity to show our
love by doing good to those He leads us to.  It might be today that you meet
that person, that God is going to use you to show the light to.  For this
one person He may very well have destined to be a great missionary, or a
selfless dedicated servant for Him. You get to be a part of that, so you
share in the glory of the One who loves us and trusts us to proclaim His
praises.  We are His possession! We are His children, so why not reflect the
light of the Father.  I know He will be well pleased.
