The Journey Thoughts

August 30, 2016

We are told to "Test the Spirits" because not every spirit is from the Lord.
And as I will write, we are given the way to be able to see which spirit is
from the Lord, and which is not.  But even more, what  is on my heart is the
fact that many believers today, do not follow THE Spirit, but follow other
spirits thinking that they are follow the Holy Spirit.  And they don't
bother to TEST the spirits because they are already convinced that they are
following the right one.   Scripture tells us: "This is how you know the
Spirit of God: Every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the
flesh is from God. But every spirit who does not confess Jesus is not from
God. This is the spirit of the antichrist; you have heard that he is coming,
and he is already in the world now.  You are from God, little children, and
you have conquered them, because the One who is in you is greater than the
one who is in the world.  They are from the world, and the world listens to
them."  1 John 4: 2-5   When Scripture tells us that the One who is in us is
greater than the one who is in the world, we believe that when we have
Jesus, through the Spirit in us, Jesus is the answer to all, He is the
Messiah; He is God, the Son; He is our Lord, our Savior, our true King.  But
some walk with a spirit that doesn't not even acknowledge Christ, but drives
us in "righteous" way that we think are Godly, but are actually ungodly.
Take for instance any false religion, that tells you that if you are good
enough, you will get to heaven, because God loves you so.  But what is good
enough?  It is the way you live according to the religions that are trying
to get you to follow them.  If anyone every tells you to follow them, but
doesn't hold the banner high for Jesus, they are a religion that is trying
to get you through deceit and misinformation.  The antichrist loves to make
us feel like we are righteous, and that if we just work hard enough God will
be pleased.  But this is the case when we stand before Him, and that HIM is
JESUS, we will have to account for what we believed.  The Spirit of the
Lord, will speak of the things of Christ.  Listen to how we are told from
Jesus Himself: "But the counselor, the Holy Spirit - the Father will send
Him in My name - will teach you all things and remind you of everything I
have told you." John 14:26   So which spirit are you listening to?  The one
who tells you that you don't have to read the Word, for it is only
confusing, but just be good, and that will be good enough.   Or do you
listen to the spirit who tells you that, if you are truly a Christian, you
will accept all the behavior that God says is an abomination to Him, because
God loves everyone.  You see there is some truth to the deception of the
adversary. He tries through deceit, not pure rejection of the truth, but
distortion of the truth.  When men say to accept people who live a life that
is abhorrent to God, they want to make you feel like you have to accept the
behavior with the person, but we can hate the behavior, but love the sinner.
This is what the Holy Spirit teaches.  We must be willing to tell the
person, I love you, but not your choice of lifestyle, and I cannot accept
the lifestyle, even though I love you.  So come away from the lifestyle and
feel the life of Christ within you.   For Christ can and will wash away the
things that we like to wallow in.  But to the heart willing to let Him
cleanse us, we can, through faith, learn to walk by faith, walk in the
Spirit, walk a walk that brings us closer to the Messiah.  Jesus is our
Messiah, and let's have hearts that are not willing to let anyone or
anything silence us from speaking the truth.  He is our Lord, our Savior:
"and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body,
I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
Galatians 2:20

Pastor Andy

Heavenly Father, teach us through Your Spirit. Teach us to follow YOUR truth
and not that trying to deceive us.  We know that Your word is truth, for our
hearts have confirmed it through Your Spirit.  Father, protect us from the
behavior of the antichrist, and help us to always seek the truth, and not
some distortion of it.  Your word is truth and we want to know You better
through Your Word, and through Your Spirit.  I pray today Lord, for these
who, through insult or illness, injury or weakness, struggle with life. I
pray You strengthen them Holy Father, and keep them safe by Your Spirit.  I
