The Journey Thoughts

September 7, 2016

Being a witness for the things Christ has done in your life takes a lot of
courage.  I know that for many that is something that they just either can't
bring themselves to do, or have convinced themselves that this is NOT their
ministry.  Yet speaking of that which has changed our lives, is a ministry,
and God chooses who you are to minister to, and what that ministry should
consist of.  We are not to decide on our own these things, for in doing so,
we usually will wind up not ministering, for the fear of doing so will have
clouded the mind enough to convince us that we are not to do that.  I was
reading in Jeremiah this morning.  The Lord told Jeremiah that He chose him,
before he was even formed in the womb, and He had set Jeremiah apart for a
specific ministry of a prophet before he was born.  Jeremiah's response to
the Lord? "Oh, no, Lord, God! Look, I don't know how to speak since I am
only a youth." But the Lord reassured him that he was to speak whatever he
was told from God.  He then asked Jeremiah a few questions of what does he
see. When he answered the Lord, the Lord told him he had answered correctly.
The Lord went on to tell him what He wanted Jeremiah to do, and listen to
this part: "Now, get ready. Stand up and tell them everything that I command
you. Do not be intimidated by them or I will cause you to cower before them.
Today, I am the One who had made you a fortified city, and iron pillar, and
bronze walls against the whole land - against the kings of Judah, its
officials, its priests, and the population. They will fight against you but
never prevail over you, since I am with you to rescue you."  Jeremiah
1:6,17-19   We have the tendency to think about the prophets that God has
called and how strong they were, but we must remember that many, including
Moses and Jeremiah, didn't want to do this thing that the Lord wanted them
to do.  They feared the people, and God had to get fairly strong with them,
to get them to do His will.  How far will the Lord go to get you to do His
will?  Will He cause you to cower if you will not be obedient to your
calling?  Will He take away the blessing that He set you apart for, if you
don't do his will? Will He be like what He did to the fig tree that did not
produce fruit, and curse it, causing it to die?    I cannot tell you what
the things are that He will do to you if you don't want to do His will for
your life, but I can tell you that by doing God's will, even when you don't
want to, brings extraordinary blessings.  How many times I tried to stay
away from the ministry, only to find myself empty and without a reason to
be, yet when I surrendered to His will, I am fulfilled, even though at times
the walk is harder than I would like it to be.  Being obedient to the Lord's
will, is trusting Him with your life; trusting Him with all you have and all
you are.  I now love the calling He has placed on my life. Because it's now
easier?  Of course not! Yet every road block or barrier to the ministry is
handled by Him, and He is the protector.  He will protect you in the
ministry you are called to, if you just step out in faith and say, Yes Lord,
instead of "Oh, no, Lord, I don't know how to speak."  Just look to the
heroes of old.  Are they not always protected, even though at times they are
led into places I'm sure they didn't want to go?  So how about it brother?
How about it sister?  Will you listen to His call on your life and step out
in faith, get involved in ministering to those God puts in your path, for
that is His will is for you, otherwise He would not have led you to such a
place as this.  He is always with you, and will rescue you, when you find
yourself in a place you don't know how to handle, for that is still His

Pastor Andy

Heavenly Father, would you give us an extra portion of Your strength this
day?  Would You reveal to the weak, that it is Your strength that will carry
them through the hard times?  Will you show them the purpose that You have
for them.  I would lift up those who, because of illness, injury, or even
those venturing out surrendered to You, that You show them Your glory that
they will know Father, that You walk with them.  I pray today for: Malachi,
