The Journey Thoughts

September 13, 2016

When Moses accepted his calling to speak to Pharaoh, it wasn't as easy as he
might have thought.  As a matter of record, Pharaoh made it even worse for
the Israelites.  The Lord however, continued to tell Moses to talk to the
people for Him, and here is what He told him: "Therefore tell the
Israelites; I am Yahweh, and I will deliver you from the forced labor of the
Egyptians and free you from slavery to them. I will redeem you with an
outstretched arm and great acts of judgment. I will take you as My people,
and I will be your God.  You will know that I am Yahweh your God, who
delivered you from the forced labor of the Egyptians. I will bring you to
the land that I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give
it to you as a possession. I am Yahweh.  Moses told this to the Israelites,
but they did not listen to him because of their broken spirit and hard
labor." Exodus 6:6-9  Have you ever had such a broken spirit that you had a
hard time listening to truth, or even listening to encouragement?   We may
not see, or be people who have to work in forced labor camps at this time,
but still have been broken down in their spirit.  They struggle with hope,
and the more they feel locked in to the hopelessness of their situation, the
more their spirit is broken.  I once had a job that took me to New York
city.  I was blown away when I saw the tenements of the Bronx.   It seemed
like there were hundreds of high rise buildings, massive, and when I asked
what those building were, I was told that's where the poor of New York
lived.  I was also told something else.  That these "cities" were comprised
of second and third generations of people who have been born there, grew up
there, and had children there, and their children grew up, and lived there
also, and the cycle went on and on. Some never left those buildings, and it
was their life and their city.  Few have been able to get out of there; few
who refused to give up and realize the dream of a better life that could
take them away from that place.  But many more had such a broken spirit,
that this was all there was in this life.  I think I can understand the
Israelites, for they too, existed in a time and place, in which they were
oppressed by life itself.  God wanted to liberate them from that life.
Jesus wants to liberate those from a life of a broken spirit today.  Do you
know someone like that?  You might even feel like that yourself, hiding your
true feelings behind a mask of joy. But it is only a mask, for what is
underneath is a broken spirit.  But I want to tell you today, that our
Jesus, Lord, Savior, is still wanting to free you from whatever burden you
carry that breaks your spirit.  He wants to give you new life and true life.
He wants to let you know, that even in your circumstance, you don't have to
be crushed.  For we have a great God, who still cares about us, and who is
still asking many of us to tell the people about Him.  He is Yahweh!  He
will tell you what He told Moses to tell the Israelites: "My name is Yahweh
to them. I also establish My covenant with them to give them the land of
Canaan, the land they lived in as foreigners. Furthermore, I have heard the
groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are forcing to work as
slaves, and I have remembered My covenant." 6:4-5 Friend, regardless of
where you live, or what your lot is in life, you can have victory in Jesus.
He will reveal to you, that you may have to continue to suffer for a while,
but after that, He will do what He promised. If it's a new life you are
looking for, look no further, for He is your New Life, and He will provide
you with all you need. He is Yahweh!
