The Journey Thoughts

September 21, 2016

Today, I will leave you with this: "Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to
me, for I take refuge in You. I will seek refuge in the shadow of Your wings
until danger passes. I call to God Most High, to God who fulfills His
purpose for me. He reaches down from heaven and saves me, challenging the
one who tramples on me. (Selah) God sends His faithful love and truth. I am
surrounded by lions; I lie down with those who devour men. Their teeth are
spears and arrows; their tongues are sharp swords. God, be exalted above the
heavens; let Your glory be over the whole earth. They prepared a net for my
steps; I was despondent. They dug a pit ahead of me, but they fell into it!"
Psalm 57: 1-6  When my children were young and we were out shopping or just
together as a family, my kids, when confronted by another adult or stranger,
would grab on to their mother's dress, like they were hiding in it.  It
seems like the more they could bury their face in it and be covered, the
stranger would not see them.  That was their comfort.  God comforts us also,
and when the world gets us to a place where we can no longer feel comfort,
we can take refuge in Him.  We can just bury ourselves within His love so
that the bad people cannot see us.   Sometimes it does seem like we are
surrounded by lions, who lay in wait to conquer us, but it is God who
delivers; it is He who surrounds us with His great love and grace and we no
longer have to be afraid.  Do you go to God like that?  We can find shelter
in the loving arms of the Father.  We can find peace in the midst of any
type of storm.  We can find that His grace will find us wherever we are.
And we will be protected until the danger passes.  Are you feeling down?
Are you weary from the life of fast- paced decisions, of talking, that is so
fast, that it becomes a blur to you?  You are surrounded by the enemy, and
it's time to let go, and run to the place where you can be scooped up by the
Father, and protected until the danger passes.  Foolish, you say!  I don't
think so, for you see we all are but children to our Lord. We are fragile
humans, who often find ourselves in situations, some of our choosing, and
some because of circumstances.  Either way, we need a shelter; we need a
place of comfort where we can feel at peace again.  That place is not
topography, but a person.  The person is the Lord, and His place is the
place you can get to even while still in the comfort of your own home, for
it is a place of the heart.  So if you are feeling low this morning, or if
you are feeling like you are being chased by wild animals, reach out to
Jesus, for He is willing, and like a loving daddy, He is right there for you
to bury your face into His garment so that the evil can no longer see you.
