The Journey Thoughts

September 27, 2016

Ezekiel saw a wonderful sight when given a vision.  It was a trickle of
water that started from under the Southside of the temple.  When he was lead
outside to where the water was running, it was trickling from the South
side.  He said the man with him measured off a third of a mile, and the
water came up to his ankles, and he measured another third, and it was up to
his knees. He measured off another third, and it came to his waist, and then
another third, and it was a river that he could not cross on foot.  Now this
river, so swift that he could not cross it, was not fed by tributaries, but
came from the trickle under the threshold of the temple.  This river flowed
to the sea, which the bible describes as a sea of foul water.  When the
river hit it, it became fresh, and every living creature that swarms will
live wherever the river flows, and since the water will become fresh, there
will be life everywhere.  He then goes on to say: "Fishermen will stand
beside it from En-gedi to En-eglaim. These will become places where nets are
spread out to dry. Their fish will consist of many different kinds, like the
fish of the Mediterranean Sea. Yet its swamps and marshes will not be
healed; they will be left for salt. All kinds of trees providing food will
grow along both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, and their
fruit will not fail. Each month they will bear fresh fruit because the water
comes from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be used for food and their leaves
for medicine."  Ezekiel 47:10-12  What a wonderful picture of the River of
Life.  Revelation 22 says, "Then he showed me the river of living water,
sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down
the middle of the broad street of the city. The tree of life was on both
sides of the river, bearing 12 kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every
month. The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations." 22:1-2   Just
think, a river that starts as a trickle and becomes a raging river, that
provides life.  This life is the life that you and I will be living with
those who love Jesus.  I may not be able to understand how a trickle can
provide a river of life, but then I am not God, and with God, He will do the
unexpected.  His will is always like that - defying the logic of man. Now we
can read this and explain it off as something imaginary, but when written by
two serious men of God, who had no idea what they were writing, except to
write what they see, have been given a glimpse of eternity.  We can be like
Thomas, and say, "unless I see, I will not believe." But that only limits us
by our unbelief.  Instead, why not believe that our God is big enough to
make this river come from a trickle, to bring life to everything it touches.
Remember, in eternity, there will be no sickness, no death, no longer a
curse (22:3). There will be no night for there is no need of night, and
there will be no need of sunlight because the Lord, God will be our light.
And, the scripture says, 'And they will reign forever and ever."  So, my
friends, when you think of it like this, why wouldn't you want to keep
eternity on your thoughts, your desires, and why not live like we are
heading to something wonderful and new, because we are.  It's ok to long for
that day, knowing that the Lord will keep us here as long as He needs us
here, for His glory and purpose, but when we are ready, either by age, or
calling, we will be able to enter into the place where life will be the only
thing around us, for there is no place in eternity for death.  Think about
that.

Pastor Andy

Heavenly Father, You fill my heart with gladness when I think of what awaits
us.  Lord, forgive us for the times that this earth, makes us think this is
all there is.  And Lord, forgive us, for the times we still think that it is
better to stay in this, what we know, because we fear the unknown.  But
Lord, You have given us a wonderful glimpse of what it will be like with
You, and I pray that all who are pushing on the door to eternity, will have
the joy before them, enduring whatever is necessary, for the glory that
awaits them.  I pray today for all who face trials, that they may focus
their energy, not on their trial, but on the joy that is set before them in
You. So please touch: Mike and his family, Tony, and heal Him while it seems
You have him here for a while longer.  I pray for: Linda, Don, Lynn, Dwight,
