The Journey Thoughts

Nothing is better than a glass of pure unadulterated milk, except to use the
cream on top for a bowl of hot cereal.  It doesn't get any better than that.
But you won't find that kind of milk in the grocery store, because it first
has to be homogenized, sterilized, filtered, and have the fat content taken
out partially or completely.  That's what happens when something good is
being handled in society.  It has to pass the inspection test of men, who
fear what it is naturally, so they alter it to make it something that they
deem better.  As I was thinking about this, I think men also do that to our
spirituality.  They take the pure unadulterated word of truth, and because
of fear of what it might do to man, alter it to become easier to digest. But
isn't the natural state the better?  God's word says, "So rid yourselves of
all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all slander. Like newborn
infants, desire the pure spiritual milk, so that you may grow by it for your
salvation, since you have tasted that the Lord is good. Coming to Him, a
living stone - rejected by men but chosen and valuable to God - yourselves,
as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house for a holy
priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus
Christ."  1 Peter 2:1-5   I have always tried to live my life, since
becoming a Christian, like Christ would have me live it.  Some years ago,
when still in the military, I was in charge of a department in a hospital.
My staff never saw me get mad or raise my voice, because I wanted to portray
Christ to them.  One day, after being in a discussion with a sailor who had
come in to my department, he wouldn't listen to reason, and the exchange
started to get to a level that was totally uncomfortable.  I had to chew him
out. When he left my department, my staff stood up and cheered.   I asked
them what that was for, and they said they finally seen me as human.  That
didn't make me feel any better, and used the occasion to tell them that what
they had seen was me in control, when I usually tried to keep Christ in
control.  I felt ashamed, yet they cheered.  You see, men love it when
things are altered to the taste of the world.  From the purity of the milk
we drink to our spiritual life, men want to change it not because it needs
changing, but because they want to think they can live with it better, if
they alter it.  Concerning our spirituality, if the world can make our
spiritual lives look like the world, they would not have anything to feel
guilty about when our lives, lived for Christ, would be closer to their
lives, lived for the world.  But Scripture tells us to GET RID of all
malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, slander.  How do we get rid of these
things? By filling our lives with the pure food. By filling our lives with
Christ!  We have tasted that the Lord is indeed good, and we need Him in our
lives to change us, not so we can be like the world, but so that we can be
examples of what purity looks like. Even though we cannot do this on our
own, it can be accomplished by trusting our lives with Christ, allowing Him
to make us, not into an altered state, but in the pure state, the one that
God intended for us to live in.  You see Christianity, appears to change us,
because we have been born in sin and born worldly,  and people don't want to
change from their world, even though this change to Christ, makes us more
like God intended from the beginning. So let's remember Christian, It's the
world that changes people to an altered state, not God. He wants us pure, as
pure as He knows His creation can be with the cleansing blood of His Son,
washing over us, and making us back into the original plan of God.
