The Journey Thoughts

November 29, 2016

I need to write to a group of people who are suffering in silence, and the
suffering I am referring to is the suffering of rebellion and ignorance.  I
feel the need to write to all of you who are of the groups known as LGBTQ.
I would also ask that those of the faith today pray for this group of
people.  I know that there is a lot of hatred between this group and
evangelicals, and I for one, would like to have a minute or two, to talk to
you, heart to heart.  If any evangelical has put you down because of your
lifestyle, I apologize, for that is not what we are about as believers. I
will admit that the life you are living is a sinful life, yet, I too, lived
in my sinful life, prior to coming to Jesus.  Our sins may have been
different, but no less offensive to God. You say we are intolerant,  and the
only way you will accept us is for us to accept you fully in your lifestyle.
Yet, I would like you to read this from our Scripture, the very same
Scripture that many of you will read, but still believe that God will accept
you behavior.   "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped
and served something created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever.
Amen. This is why God delivered them over to degrading passions. For even
their females exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. The
males in the same way also left natural relations with females and were
inflamed in their lust for one another. Males committed shameless acts with
males and received in their own persons the appropriate penalty of their
error. And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God
delivered them over to a worthless mind to do what is morally wrong. They
are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed, and wickedness. They are
full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, and malice. They are gossips,
slanderers, God-haters, arrogant, proud, boastful, inventors of evil,
disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, and
unmerciful." Romans 1:1:25-31  You see, the problem here is not you, but
behavior that is not what God wanted for us, and it's not just you, but
everyone who considers themselves righteous, but are full of all of these
things that are morally wrong. God loves you, and I love you also, with the
love that is planted in me by the Spirit of our living God.  I know you
can't understand the difference between our acceptance of you as a person,
but our disagreement of your lifestyle, just like we cannot accept any
behavior, including our own, that is offensive to God.  But you say you were
born this way, yet we all are born in sin, filled with self-centeredness.
But God can change a person.  You don't have to change to accept Him for He
will change your heart, just like He does to all who sin, and come to Him
repentant, and wanting forgiveness.  But the first step is recognizing that
we need Him.  You have been growing rebellious wanting the world to change
for you, but I will say that the world has to change for Him,  for He is our
only hope for the future.  If you are not concerned about where you are
going, please realize that this life is just a small part of what life is
about, and it is the school room to learn how to live in love for each
other, and forgive each other.  When I reject your lifestyle, I am not
rejecting you as a person, any more than I will reject a gossip or a person
involved in any other sinful behavior, but I will love you, with the love
that is within me. That is the Love found in Christ, who has changed every
life that turns to Him for help.  If you want something more; if you need to
have the void filled in your life, it won't be found in those who accept you
for who you are, for the void can only be filled by God. And believer, let's
not forget that we must treat all people with the love of Christ, not
accepting the behavior, but loving the sinner and not the sin.

Pastor Andy

Heavenly Father,  It seems like there is becoming more and more anger aimed
at You and those of us who proclaim Your truth.  Yet, I know, Lord, that You
have warned us this would happen, that we will be hated.  I pray Lord, for
those that hate, that call us intolerant.  Help us to show love while
standing firm in the faith.  Help us to reveal hearts that love, even the
most unlovable.  I pray today Lord, for those who are becoming more filled
with hate because we have not accepted their behavior.  I pray Father, that
You will strengthen us for the task of showing love to those who reject us.
I pray also for these who need you daily. I pray Father, that our ministry,
our lives as believers, will be so filled full of Your love that we will
love where love is not understood, that we will show forgiveness, even when
we disagree with how others live.  Lord, this war is breaking my heart, as I
know it breaks Your too, that Your people, those You gave Your Son to die
for, will choose the lie over the truth.  Your Word is truth, and I pray for
all believers today, that Lord You will fill us so with Your Spirit, that
You will open a door of opportunity to bring this truth to a generation and
a group that needs you so desperately.  I realize that we all sin, Lord, and
we are repentant, so please show us the way to plant a loving seed of grace
into the lives of those whose behavior is on a course of destruction.   I
pray Lord for strength and wisdom and discernment in Christ name. Amen
