Have you ever just resonated with another person. I don't mean your spouse either, although I hope you have a close connection there also. Let me give you an illustration: A number of years ago, while working in a Military hospital, I met another officer for the first time. There was a connection from the spirit within each of us, before we knew that each other were believers. I have had that happen so many times in my life, where I met a person for the first time, and realized they were a believer, and my heart knew it before my head did. Paul was connecting with the church at Colossae, a group of people he had never met, still he writes this: "I am saying this so that no one will deceive you with persuasive arguments. For I may be absent in body, but I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see how well ordered you are and the strength of your faith in Christ. Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, overflowing with gratitude." Colossians 2:4-7 He had that connection with the (small s) spirit, his spirit, that rejoiced because he knew where their heart was in their belief in Christ. This did not mean they were not "lead" by the Spirit, which they were surrendered to, and He, the Holy Spirit, ministered to their spirit, and they were one in Christ. Think about it, and the next time you meet someone new, it might be like the two on the road to Emmaus, who said after they realized Christ was with them: "Weren't our hearts ablaze within us while He was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us? Luke 24:32 That's the spirit within man that longs for the presence of Christ, through the Holy Spirit.
Our Heavenly Father, I pray for all believers to recognize that the spirit You have put within each of us, longs for fellowship. I pray that we will surrender completely to Your Spirit, so that we too, will be one. I lift up today: Kristen, Sam, Kim, Clyde, James, Starla, Scott, William and his friend, Rose, Dave, Linda, Mike, Abby, Marlaina, Carolyn, Loren, Jackie Ann, Speros, Barbara, Mike S., Bill, Sarah, Dan, Marie, Rachel. I pray for hearts to be turned to you, and spirit's soar in Christian unity and harmony, for I ask it in Jesus name.
