I was reading in my military news about a man who was convicted of professing to be a Navy Seal, all for the benefit of being someone he is not, of deceiving others, who rained down praise and gifts to him. The Military is a pretty close-knit community, and it's amazing how many non-military men are trying to walk as military, complete with decorations of valor and courage. This reminded me of how many today, walk around in the disguise of a Christian, professing to be a biblical teacher, an apostle, a worker, yet having no relationship with Jesus. But why should that surprise us? Scripture tells us: "But I will continue to do what I am doing in order to deny the opportunity of those who want an opportunity to be regarded just as our equals in what they boast about. For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan disguises himself as an angel of light." 2 Corinthians 11:12-14 Thankfully, there are good honest military people from past and present, who labor to keep the military honor clean of such people who are self-serving. There are many sincere and dedicated people, who strive to spread the truth through grace, and point out the difference between those who profess to be what they are not, all for their self-interest. Paul was one, but I believe the Scriptures warn us, so that we all can strive to keep the purity of Scripture intact, and to reveal whenever necessary, the disguise of those who claims to be believers, but whose fruit is self-seeking, and whose message is not the message of the cross, but of prosperity. Remember, "You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness" 1 Peter 2:9 Keep in Him, so that you can deny the opportunity for them to flourish.
Lord, Help us to stay pure before you, not perfect, but dedicated to following You and Your will for us. Help us to speak the truth and therefore destroy the heresy of those who speak untruth. I pray for strength today. I pray for those who need You to lift them from the struggle of the battle in life. Please lift today: Loren, James, Montella, Mike, Mike S., Jim, Cynthia, Carolyn, Barbara, Jackie Ann, Loren, Speros, Pam, Joann, Rheba, Ada, Harriet, Peggy, for our graduates, Lord may they stay true to the faith, our military, and our missionaries, who often have to fight false teachings. I pray for You to make us more like You, and I ask it in Jesus name.
