On this Memorial day, I know there will be parades, flags, special celebrations to honor those who have fought to make our country free, and those who gave the ultimate price for freedom. We generally honor those military who lost their lives, but realize that the price of freedom is paid by the blood of patriots who serve right on this soil also. The men and women of the law enforcement, medical, and fire departments, who continue to do their job and serve others, even at risk of their own lives. For the true honor goes to those who put others before self, who will protect those he/she calls brothers and sisters. I want to honor a few names: Harley, who had such an impact on me, never made it back home from Vietnam; my uncle Orville, who died protecting airspace over Europe; Mike, who gave his life in Vietnam, George Landi, who did the same. But I couldn't give honor enough to them without first recognizing the One who gave His life for the freedom of each and every person on the face of the earth, Jesus! Paul would say about Him: "But now He has reconciled you by His physical body through His death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before Him - if indeed you remain grounded and steadfast in the faith and are not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard. This gospel has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and I , Paul, have become a servant of it." Colossians 1:22-23 We take so much for granted, and instead of honoring our heroes, they are thought of as killers, and are dishonored because of the thinking of foolish people. The world treated Jesus the same way, but it didn't make Him bitter, for He knew it was the adversary distorting the minds of those who refused to see Him. I am honored to have fought for what I believe is right, true, honest, and I don't care who would hate me because of it, for I am also a warrior, who fought for his fellow man, and now fights for the Lord's Army. I would like all who know Jesus as Lord, to take a moment as they are remembering fellow men and women who paid that price, to think about Jesus, who was the Author of sacrifice, who went before us, and showed us that true freedom is worth fighting for, and if necessary giving our all for. That's what this day will bring into memory for me. Thank all of you who serve! Thank You Jesus, for teaching us how to serve, and to let You know that You have given us a hope, a hope of eternal life, so that this time of service is preparing us for what lies ahead. We honor You today through Your holy name - Jesus!
